Are you a Costco member or want to be? The TrueEarnings card from Costco and American Express is a great card for current or future Costco members that want cash back on their spending.
Cardholders receive a varying amount of cash back - they earn:
- 3% on gas purchases up to $3000 annually (1% thereafter)
- 3% on all restaurant purchases
- 2% on all travel-related purchases
- 1% cash back on all other general purchases anywhere globally
There is no limit to the size and timing of the rebates that a cardholder can earn.
Like most other American Express cards, this card provides auto rental insurance including damage and loss, purchase protection plans, and travel accident insurance, up to $100,000.
Travelling internationally? The Costco TrueEarnings provides you access to an international cell phone from Vodafone, and you get $20 worth of free airtime on rentals of one week or longer.
Cardholders also get access to the American Express Ticket Savings center, which gives you access to the some of the biggest events in your area, including sporting events, theater, and music concerts. Cardholders also get access to American Express Entertainment, which provides notification of the hottest events that come to your area. On Broadway, cardholders can get tickets to some of the best productions on the Great White Way, through American Express Presents Broadway Live on Yahoo!
American Express also offers cardholders discounts through its American Express Selects program at name-brand merchants, including deals and savings on electronics, vacations, dinners, clothing, travel and much, much more. Make a big purchase with your card and American Express will double the warranty on the item, up to one (1) year, on eligible purchases that have US warranties of 5 years or less.
Break the item you bought? American Express will help cardholders of the Costco TrueEarnings card - either by repairing, replacing, or reimburseing you, up to the full amount charged on the card.
Cardholders can also relax that they are protected - Should fraudulent charged appear on the card (an exceedingly unlikely event), American Express will not hold the cardholder responsible and will remove them promptly from the card.
There is no annual fee for the credit card for those that have a current Costco membership.
